Wireless Microphones refers to microphones which do not use a wire or balanced XLR plug or on lesser systems a ΒΌ inch pin plug with which to plug into the mixer.
Wireless mics are great if you need to move about and be able to pass a mic from one to the next presenter without the hindrance of a wire. Please note that you can buy a $50- $150 wired mic which could cost $500-$1500 to sound just as good.
