School Sound systems are best when kept simple. I have seen Gymnasiums with 16 speakers located all over the ceiling and showering down on 16 locations… half that many speakers with good dispersion is preferable and even better is a center cluster of speakers which, when you reduce the numbers of points of sound, you also reduce the total amount of reflection of sound or reverberation which happens always in a gymnasium which has a very live sound stage. In Auditoriums we use only 2-4 speakers in a cluster from a single point above the stage which allows for great dispersion to the entire audience and will have a minimum of reflective properties due to the low number of drivers and a single location.
