Multi-room amps are used instead of passive volume controls in the home where a person may want to play multiple sounds in a given house. Most homes have a media room or family room which can have a movie or event or music playing, while an auxiliary amp, or zone 2, plays music to the rest of the home. This proves to be a good compromise. Having more than 2 things playing in a home can be very overpowering and for kids’ rooms, they generally prefer to have their own music playing from their own source like their phone.
